| ANALYSIS: |
California does not suffer from a power shortage, as it has adequate facilitites to produce more power than it uses on a daily basis. It does have peaks of usage that exceed its current production capacity. It also has the capability of bringing a number of ecologically sound, renewable sources online; however, many of these sources do not provide energy on demand (e.g., wind and solar).
Any solution should involve large scale storage capacity (a la the Pyramid / Castaic Pump Storage facility). |
